Paper Wings

Wow, long time no post!! Not that anyone reads this, but still :P

Hmm, what's new? Still no boyfriends - so awkward to explain to people: "So, where's you're better half?"

"Umm I don't have one?"

Plus, I made this pact that if I still had never been kissed by 18 (I turned 17 almost 2 months ago), I would wait until my wedding day. Which may never happen anyways, considering the fact that it seems that guys are not the least bit attracted to me...takes some pressure off of me though, because I can totally dress like a ho witbout worry of distracting any of my Christian brothers haha...not that I really want to dress like a skank or anything though.

God, could anyone dare love me? I never want to have a crush again.

I'll be back with more angsty thoughts later, haha. Or maybe not, because the cuts have been getting deeper lately. We'll see how THAT works out.

What I’ve Learned in PowerPoint

Well, I have certainly learned a lot in PowerPoint. I just have to think of what it is. Oh! I’ve got it! …nope, nope, it’s gone. Okay, well, I’m sure that Simba could figure this out ten times better than me! That’s it – I learned how to make different kinds of slides, like how Simba learns to eat several different types of insects. I can make these slides freaking cool, just like the song Hakuna Matata is, the song that Simba sings while eating bugs. I did not get to sing or dance while I learned to make slides with pictures on them and moving font, but oh well. Mufasa never danced either (but he did sing). Another cool thing I learned was how to make stuff appear on my slides in a cool order. Now I know why Timon and Pumba were so excited when Hakuna Matata turned into such a great sing and dance number! It’s hard to make everything (or one) come in at the right time and still look good! Another thing that I really liked was how I could take an outline from a Word presentation and make into a PowerPoint. Pour Simba, having to take the knowledge he had gathered from his life in the jungle and transfer it to Pride Rock! Luckily, transferring files is much easier than that. Yet it is sadder because it too involves neither singing nor dancing as well. I learned all about the different slide views that one can use, such as Slide Master View and Slideshow. This came in handy, because sometimes you need multiple views of one thing, such as when Simba had to look at the death of Mufasa from a different point of view, before he understood what had really happened.

Learning PowerPoint has been a great experience, like taking over Pride Rock was for Scar. I felt very victorious when I had figured out what I was doing. Luckily I didn’t backstab any hyenas or lionesses, so I survived. I made some really cool presentations, like my movie slideshow, of which I’m sure I worked really hard. It was almost as cool as the fact that the same guy does the voice of Darth Vadar and Mufasa. Best and worst dad ever. Whoa.

A Beautiful Nightmare

A beautiful nightmare plagues my sleep
of crazed enchanters and wicked vandals
of frozen suns and melted moons
of life snuffed out like a candle

It calls me into silence,
A dark and welcoming sound
It whispers sweetness in my ear
of closet skeletons never found

A beautiful nightmare holds me close
in its grip of death and flame
it burns my skin and lets me in
to a world of horror and shame

Like a leopard does it creep
and hiss and snap at my soul
sucking me deeper into the night
forcing me back down the rabbit's hole

A beautiful nightmare haunts my dreams
of a beastly creature, pained and irate
that stalks my sleep, brings it fear
with eyes of malice, desire and hate

Where does the darkness go at dawn?
My beast bears this question to me
To where shall the light escape to tonight?
To where does the moonscape flee?

A beautiful nightmare begs my fate
To be of a future, to be of a past
To become the beauty I see in the dream
And not the beast I see in the glass

To be of a wold of molten glass
that can be shaped, molded: changeable
Or a world of frozen ice and snow
that is brittle and fragile: breakable

A beautiful nightmare molds my mind
stealing the sword, leaving the stone
Changing my thoughts, sculpting my sight
Leaving a new soul forgotten, alone

The wolves are hiding in the night
watching me as I toss and dream
listening close, whispering soft
Smiling as I flinch and scream

A beautiful nightmare taunts my lips
with visions of demons, visions of hell
visions of music, visions so sweet
visions of angels as the fell

Their wings are torn
They've been scorched in tears
The angels are wailing
tales of my fears

My beautiful nightmare keeps my soul
with its claws of angst and pain
When will the dawn save me tonight?
When will my wolves be slain?

Save me from my beautiful nightmare
find me amongst my sin
save me from the darkest night
save me like the seraphim

A beautiful nightmare gives me peace
as it leaves me to live and cry
to be of a world of love and hate
At last I can finally die.

The Star Wars Excel Paper

I have learned a whole Death Star load of stuff about Excel. I have learned how to actually use Excel (so now I can chart out many standard galactic units I lost when Alderaan’s stock went down), and how to do formulas and make graphs. This will really come in handy when I go back to Tatooine and have to show the statistics of how many humanoids die or are injured in pod races.

I learned how to type in formulas into the different cells so that I don’t have to do math manually. This is very good, because when I began writing out my plans for how to create a lightsaber, I messed up my math and blew it up. Master Yoda would have been so upset if he had known! I learned how to average the numbers in two different cells, or add them, or subtract them. I also learned about Paste Special, where I can go and just paste what I need to instead of the whole thing. Another thing I learned was that when I get all number signs, it does not mean that Excel is cussing me out like I originally thought, but that I need to expand the column widths. I am so glad that I figured this out on my own, because if the Sith Lord had seen me, he would have cut off my hand.

I did not know that I could duplicate my excel sheets and place them on top of one another. That was a cool thing to learn; I now understand why Obi-Wan was so stoked when he stumbled upon all the many clones that were being made for the Republic. It really comes in handy to have more than one copy of the same thing! I also learned how to use the currency button to write in all of the dollar signs for me. If only they had the symbol for standard galactic units! Then I wouldn’t have to draw them in for the chart of how much money Lord Vader has spent at the Death Star cantina!
